I never used to take time to reflect on my actions. I was on auto-pilot a lot of the time. I would act impulsively, whatever felt good in the moment was what I was going to do, no questions asked. I kept repeating some version of the same old shit over and over.
But that got tired. Now I tend to reflect on everything. Sometimes it's to see how I could be better or do better next time I'm in a similar situation. Other times it's to have a moment of gratitude and to really soak in all of the beauty that is this life.
This practice has made a huge difference in my life. Once upon a time I thought reflection to be boring and unnecessary, but no longer do I feel that way.
